A summer that turned the familiar path into something a little more special.
It had been a while since I last rode tandem with my partner to visit my parents' home.
The goal for the day was the fireworks at Wakayama Marina City.
Knowing the venue would be crowded, we headed to a secret vantage point on a hill.
We fully enjoyed the beautiful night view and the fireworks.
After a relaxing stay at my parents' place, we set off the next morning.
Shirasaki Ocean Park in the morning.
We grabbed breakfast from a food truck and ate it while taking in the morning scenery.
We stopped at a park overlooking Enjugahama Beach, then headed south along National Route 42 by the coast.
After taking a break at Roadside Station Susami, we went through Nakahechi to reach Okunoin at Mount Koya.
Walking through the quiet rows of cedar trees, my mind naturally found peace.
No matter how many times I visit this place, the atmosphere always feels different.
Side by side, walking in step, we slowly paid our respects.
And then, the ride home.
The roads we traveled this time were all familiar ones I’ve ridden many times before.
Even so, this was the first time I had ridden a motorcycle on them with my partner.
Even if the scenery remains the same, having a different person to ride with changes the memories and feelings of the day just a little.
Even on roads I know by heart, there is a view unique to that very moment.
I'll be back again; let's see new sights together.
Let's layer new memories onto the same roads we’ve traveled so many times.
