"Handroid Mark 5": The Flagship Knox Model

Handroid is a racing hand armor that brings together all the expertise Knox has cultivated in protective gear since 1981 into a single glove.

The most distinctive feature of the Handroid is the exoskeleton system on each finger. These tubular, skeletal components allow for smooth clutch and brake operation while absorbing impact in the event of a fall, reducing damage to the fingers and knuckles. The palm features our SPS (Scaphoid Protection System), which acts as a slider against the road surface during a crash; this reduces pressure on the hands, arms, and shoulders, helping to prevent compression fractures. While this is a feature found in other Knox gloves, the Handroid's SPS incorporates MICRO-LOCK for an even more robust and effective design.

In a real racing scene, protection alone isn't enough; operability is equally critical. While the exoskeleton system enhances function, the use of a BOA system for wrist closure—allowing riders to achieve their perfect custom fit—is also deeply connected to performance. It provides uniform tension around the entire wrist, and the dial can be pulled to release instantly, making it highly practical as well.

Differences between the Handroid Mark 5 and Mark 4

The Mark 4 featured wrist cuffs on both the inside and outside, but the Mark 5 has been updated to a single outer cuff, which offers greater utility. By integrating MICRO-LOCK inside the cuff, the glove is now not only more resistant to abrasion but also offers better impact absorption.
Additionally, the BOA dial on the Mark 5 now allows for both tightening and loosening adjustments. Other changes include a shorter thumb length and the addition of a Velcro wrist strap, resulting in a better fit and an even more comfortable feel.

New SPS (Scaphoid Protection System)

This system consists of two protectors on the palm. In the event of a fall, the SPS acts as a "slider," allowing the palm to maintain the same speed as the rider when it hits the road surface. This relieves pressure on the shoulders and arms and helps protect against injuries such as compression fractures (International Patent: EP1594378). Compared to previous models, the integration of MICRO-LOCK into the SPS provides enhanced impact absorption. MICRO-LOCK is a proprietary Knox impact-absorbing material that remains soft during normal use and locks (hardens) upon impact.

BOA System

A dial-based wire system called "BOA" is used to secure the wrist. Not only does it allow for precise adjustment by simply pushing and turning the dial, but it also enables even tightening and loosening. To remove the gloves, simply pull the BOA dial to release.

Exoskeleton

The exoskeleton refers to the tubular, skeletal components placed on each finger.
It is the core protection system that defines the Handroid glove. "Exoskeleton" literally means an "external skeleton." These parts mounted on each finger play a vital role in absorbing impact during an accident, cushioning damage to the knuckles and fingers, and reducing friction against the road. These tubular parts move flexibly, ensuring that the glove protects the hand without hindering finger dexterity.

Kangaroo Palm

Tear-resistant kangaroo leather is used on the grip area of the palm.

Gauntlet

The gauntlet at the cuff uses a slim, polyethylene protector that offers excellent impact resistance and flexibility. By mounting the protector only on the outside, we have improved overall operability.
The integration of MICRO-LOCK inside the protector provides enhanced impact absorption. MICRO-LOCK is a proprietary Knox impact-absorbing material that remains soft during normal use and locks (hardens) upon impact.

Touchscreen Compatible

The index finger, middle finger, and thumb are touchscreen compatible.
However, please note that touch operation is only possible with the pads of the fingers (the fingerprint area). Since the design does not allow for touch operation with the very tips of the fingers, it may not be suitable for those who require seamless touchscreen control.
