When riding a motorcycle, wearing protective gear is essential to be prepared for the unexpected. However, the selection of motorcycle jackets with built-in protection is limited, and from a fashion perspective, the variety is far from abundant.

The Urbane Pro is a riding protection shirt that brings together the technology of KNOX, a brand that has been crafting protective gear since 1981. Because it features a special mesh fabric that is resistant to tearing and abrasion, you can wear it as-is during the height of summer, or layer your favorite jacket over it in winter, allowing you to ride with the freedom of your own style while remaining well-protected.

It comes equipped with "MICRO-LOCK COMPACT protectors" as standard in the shoulders, elbows, and back, which are thinner and more flexible than conventional MICRO-LOCK protectors. While they are soft and fit your body under normal conditions, they are a protective material that hardens upon impact—such as in a fall—to shield your body from harm. Because they move flexibly during regular use, you don't get the uncomfortable, bulky feel or the shifting protectors common in standard armored jackets, allowing you to wear it quite naturally.

During hot periods, you can take advantage of its breathability by wearing the Urbane Pro on its own as a lightweight outer layer. In colder seasons, you can layer it with jackets like the "Dual Pro" to use it all year round.

Asking the founder about the Urbane Pro

We asked Geoff, the founder of KNOX, directly about the Urbane Pro!

Q. People often say the Urbane Pro is heavy. What are your thoughts on this?

A. It's heavy because the back protector is larger than those of our competitors. While the CE standard states that the protective range only needs to cover from the back to the lower waist, that is absolutely not enough in the event of an accident. You need coverage down to the seat. Therefore, the weight of the Urbane Pro is proof of its safety.

Q. There are comments about confusion regarding sizing.

A. Please wear it as a snug fit. Doing so prevents the elbow and shoulder protectors from shifting, which keeps you safe. Also, any wrinkles caused by having too much room make it harder for your skin to breathe. If there is a gap, heat accumulates there, making you hotter. A snug fit is actually cooler. Plus, when the Urbane Pro becomes a part of your body, you stop noticing the weight.

Q. Is the mesh as durable as the other parts?

A. In conclusion, it has sufficient strength against abrasion. Of course, it is slightly inferior to the non-mesh parts regarding impact, as the CE standards have strict impact testing for the elbows, shoulders, and back, but the requirements for other areas are a bit lower. We only use mesh in those specific areas.

Q. I heard this is the best-selling KNOX product. Why is that?

A. This isn't widely known, but most accidents occur at speeds under 30km/h and happen when you're just "heading out for a quick ride." Unfortunately, most people don't wear protectors at those times because it's a hassle, isn't it? That's why I wanted to make sure the Urbane Pro was completely hassle-free and easy to wear immediately. I believe that intention resonated with people. It is my favorite product.

[166cm / 60kg / Male] Size worn: S
I used to wear size M in the Mark 2, but since the protectors have become thinner in the Mark 3, my usual size S fits perfectly. It conforms to the body, making it easier to move.

[170cm / 87kg / Male] Size worn: L
My chest is 105cm and my waist is 87-88cm. It fits my chest well, but there is some room around the midsection. L is ideal if you prioritize silhouette. It might feel cramped if you add the optional chest pad.

[175cm / 67kg / Male] Size worn: M
The S size felt tight around the arms, which I thought would be difficult for long-distance riding. Size M has a little more room in the arms, length, and waist, making it comfortable to get into a riding position even when straddling the bike and reaching for the handlebars.

MICRO-LOCK COMPACT Protector

The MICRO-LOCK protector, an impact-absorbing material uniquely developed by KNOX, has evolved further, giving birth to the MICRO-LOCK COMPACT. While maintaining the traditional features of being soft during normal use and hardening (locking) upon impact, as well as its protective levels, it incorporates a durable honeycomb structure that is thinner (up to 60%) and significantly more breathable. Additionally, due to the honeycomb structure and the patented "Flex and Adapt" side-slit design, the protector fits the shape of the body without effort, eliminating the uncomfortable feel and shifting of protectors, making it even more comfortable to wear.

Stretch panels

By incorporating stretch panels, it expands and contracts with your body's movements, achieving a comfortable fit.
