When riding a motorcycle, it is essential to wear protection in case of an emergency. However, the selection of motorcycle jackets with built-in protection is limited, and from a fashion perspective, the variety is far from abundant.

The Urbane Pro is a riding protection shirt that brings together the expertise of KNOX, which has been developing protective gear since 1981. Because it uses a special mesh fabric that is resistant to tearing and abrasion, you can wear it as-is in midsummer, or wear your favorite jacket over it in winter, allowing you to ride your motorcycle with freedom of fashion while staying protected.

It comes standard with "MICRO-LOCK COMPACT protectors" in the shoulders, elbows, and back, which are thinner and more flexible than conventional MICRO-LOCK protectors. These protective materials are soft and fit your body under normal conditions, but harden upon impact—such as in a fall—to shield you. Because they move flexibly during normal use, you don't get the protector shifting or the bulky feel common with many protective jackets; you can wear it quite naturally.

In hot weather, you can take advantage of its excellent breathability by wearing the Urbane Pro alone as a light outer layer. In cold weather, you can layer it with a jacket such as the "Dual Pro" to use it all year round. It is an inner protector that allows you to easily wear professional-grade protection certified to CE standard AA.

We asked Geoff, the founder of KNOX, directly about the Urbane Pro!

Q. The Urbane Pro is often said to be heavy. What do you think about that?

A. The reason it is heavy is that the back protector is larger than those from other companies. While the CE standard states that protection coverage from the back down to the small of the back is sufficient, in the event of an accident, that is absolutely not enough. You definitely need coverage all the way down to the tailbone. Therefore, the weight of the Urbane Pro is proof of its safety.

Q. There are comments about people being confused by the sizing.

A. Please wear it as a snug fit. This ensures the elbow and shoulder protectors stay in place, which is safer. Also, if there are wrinkles due to extra space, it becomes harder for the skin to breathe. If there are gaps, heat accumulates there, making you hotter. Actually, a tighter fit is cooler. Plus, when the Urbane Pro becomes a part of your body, you stop noticing the weight.

Q. Is the mesh as durable as the other parts?

A. To conclude, it has sufficient strength against abrasion. Of course, compared to non-mesh parts, it is slightly inferior regarding impact. This is because the CE standard requires rigorous testing for impact on the elbows, shoulders, and back, but the requirements for other areas are slightly lower. We only use mesh in those specific areas.

Q. We heard it is the best-selling KNOX product. Why is that?

A. This is not widely known, but most accidents occur at speeds below 30 km/h, and they happen when you say, "I'm just going out for a moment." Unfortunately, in those cases, most people are not wearing protectors. Because it's a hassle, right? That’s why I wanted to make sure the Urbane Pro was never a hassle and could be put on immediately. I think that sentiment resonated with people. It is my personal favorite product.

[166cm / 60kg / Male] Size worn: S
I wore a size M for the Mark 2, but for the Mark 3, because the protectors are thinner, a size S—my usual size—is a perfect fit.
It fits my body better, making it easier to move around.

[170cm / 87kg / Male] Size worn: L
My chest is 105cm and waist is 87-88cm. The chest area fits perfectly, but there is a little extra room around the torso. If silhouette is your priority, L is ideal. Adding a separate chest pad might make it feel a bit tight.

[175cm / 67kg / Male] Size worn: M
With the S size, the arm area felt tight, making it difficult for long-distance riding.
The M size had a bit more room in the arms, length, and waist, making it easy to get into a riding position even when I stretched my arms out to the handlebars while on the bike.

MICRO-LOCK COMPACT Protector

The MICRO-LOCK protector, an impact-absorbing material developed independently by KNOX, has evolved into the MICRO-LOCK COMPACT. Maintaining the traditional characteristics of being soft under normal conditions and hardening (locking) during impact, it incorporates a strong, highly durable honeycomb structure that is thinner (up to 60%) and significantly more breathable. Furthermore, with its honeycomb structure and the unique patented "Flex and Adapt" side-slit shape, the protector comfortably fits the shape of the body, eliminating the shifting and bulkiness, making it even more comfortable to wear.

Abrasion-resistant special fabric

Made from stretch nylon and breathable mesh, it is highly resistant to abrasion and tearing.

Stretch panels

Equipped with stretch panels, it expands and contracts with body movement to provide a comfortable fit.

This product uses synthetic fibers and protectors; depending on your constitution, it may cause redness, swelling, or itching. If you feel any abnormality on your skin during use, please stop wearing it and consult a physician.
Also, do not fold the protectors.
