The Urbane Pro is a riding protection shirt that brings together the technology of KNOX, which has been involved in protective gear since 1981. Because it uses a special mesh fabric that is resistant to tearing and abrasion, you can wear it as-is in midsummer, or wear your favorite jacket over it in winter—allowing you to ride with the freedom to express your style while remaining safely protected.

It comes standard with "MICRO-LOCK COMPACT Protectors" on the shoulders, elbows, and back, which are thinner and more flexible than conventional MICRO-LOCK protectors. These protective materials are soft and fit your body under normal conditions, but harden upon impact from falls or collisions to protect you. Because they move flexibly during normal use, you avoid the bulging or stiff, uncomfortable sensation often found in jackets with built-in armor, allowing for a completely natural fit.

During hot weather, you can take advantage of its breathability by wearing the Urbane Pro alone as a light outer layer. In colder months, you can layer it with jackets like the "Dual Pro" to use it all year round.

Interviewing the Founder about the Urbane Pro

We asked Geoff, the founder of KNOX, directly about the Urbane Pro!

Q. People often say the Urbane Pro is heavy. What are your thoughts on this?

A. The reason it is heavy is that the back protector is larger than those from other companies. CE standards say that the protection area only needs to cover from the back to the lower lumbar, but in the unlikely event of an accident, that is absolutely not enough. It must properly cover down to the tailbone. Therefore, the weight of the Urbane Pro is proof of its safety.

Q. There is feedback that people are unsure about the sizing.

A. Please wear it as a snug fit. That way, the elbow and shoulder protectors won't rotate, which is safer. Also, any wrinkles caused by having too much room make it harder for your skin to breathe. If there are gaps, heat will accumulate there, making it hotter. Ironically, a snug fit is actually cooler. Furthermore, the Urbane Pro becomes a part of your body, making the weight feel less noticeable.

Q. Is the mesh as durable as the rest of the material?

A. The bottom line is that it has sufficient strength against abrasion. Of course, compared to parts that are not mesh, it is slightly inferior regarding direct impact. This is because CE standards have strict examination criteria for impact resistance for the elbows, shoulders, and back, but the requirements for other parts are slightly lower. We use mesh only in those specific areas.

Q. I heard this is KNOX's best-selling product. Why is that?

A. This isn't well known, but most accidents occur at speeds under 30 km/h and happen when you're just saying, "I'm just going out for a quick ride." Unfortunately, most people don't wear protectors at those times because it's a hassle, right? So, I wanted the Urbane Pro to be something that is never a hassle and can be worn immediately. I think that sentiment resonated with people. It is my favorite product.

MICRO-LOCK COMPACT Protector

The MICRO-LOCK protector, an impact-absorbing material developed independently by KNOX, has evolved into the MICRO-LOCK COMPACT. While maintaining the original features and protection level of being soft during normal use and hardening (locking) upon impact, it incorporates a durable honeycomb structure. This makes it thinner (up to 60%) and significantly improves breathability. Additionally, thanks to the honeycomb structure and the patented "Flex and Adapt" side-slit design, the protector conforms comfortably to the shape of the body, eliminating the bulky feeling of traditional armor and providing an even better fit.

Abrasion-Resistant Special Fabric

Made from stretch nylon and highly breathable mesh material, it is resistant to abrasion and tearing.
