At FUGA, we aimed to balance creating the necessary environment for riding with enhancing the shoe's inherent functions.
To create the right riding environment, the upper, which forms the instep of the shoe, is made from a single piece of leather, and the opening is offset. Forming with a single piece of leather involves a lot of waste due to the luxurious use of leather, which directly impacts the cost. However, a form with fewer seams not only looks beautiful but also fits the foot comfortably due to its flexibility. Moreover, the smooth surface with few irregularities allows for smooth contact with the motorcycle.
Furthermore, the offset opening realizes this concept more concretely. The position of the shoelaces, which can hinder riding, is shifted to the outside, and the shoelaces are secured with snap buttons. This creates a neat and smart appearance, enhancing the refined design.

About the Leather Tag

These boots come with a leather tag made from the same full-grain leather as the upper.
Since it's crafted with the same thickness and dye as the shoes, you can feel and appreciate the quality and substantiality of the material directly. The cross-section clearly shows the generous use of thick leather.
The tag is embossed with the GAERNE logo and "MADE IN ITALY." It quietly tells the story of a solid background and the maker's attitude. This small tag is proof that you can see, touch, and even enjoy the changes over time in how much high-quality leather the boots use.

The leather tag included with this product is a specification from December 2025 onwards. It is not included with earlier models.

Please note that there is a mix of specifications where the tag is directly threaded through the shoelaces and where it is fixed with metal fittings.
As it may come off during wear, we recommend removing and storing it when using the boots.

Gaerne products are designed for riding, so their sizing differs from general shoes. Also, the last, sole shape, and sole manufacturing method vary by model, so there are differences in how each model fits. We have prepared a size chart based on the sole and last data of each model, please use it for selecting your size.

This model comes with a leather insole already attached, so you can use it as is without the included insole.
Please use the included insole for slight size adjustments when the boot leather has broken in.

Product Details

Upper Material

ANFIBIO leather is the highest quality full-grain leather, allowed only for high-end Gaerne boots. It is exceptionally durable yet becomes soft as it breaks in. Furthermore, it is resistant to dirt and the material itself has a certain degree of water resistance (though it is not completely waterproof). Dyed ANFIBIO leather takes on an uneven color, creating a unique texture. A significant feature of this leather is also how its color changes over time.

Sole Manufacturing Method

What characterizes these shoes is the Norwegian welt construction, commonly known as "Norvegiese." This method offers various advantages by sewing the shoe's upper, insole, and outsole together with a unique lock stitch. For example, the sole is thick and resistant to deformation, it has very high rigidity, it is robust and long-lasting, and the sole can be replaced. As it is a standard for high-end men's shoes, it has been the optimal manufacturing method for making shoes sturdy and beautifully finished since ancient times. However, its drawback is the cost due to the complex process. For this reason, many shoes may look like Norwegian or Goodyear but are actually different. These shoes are made with the desire to deliver authenticity, disregarding such costs. Gaerne refers to shoes like No. 145 and FUGA as integral shoes, meaning "shoes that completely envelop the foot."

This product is handmade by craftsmen in the Gaerne factory in the Veneto region of Italy. From the FUGA, you can surely feel the passionate pride and sensibility of Gaerne's skilled craftsmen, cultivated through Italy's history and culture of manufacturing. And from every precise and carefully stitched seam by these craftsmen, you will also sense their dedication and love for these shoes.

Gaerne boots are handmade products, with each pair meticulously crafted by artisans. During the manufacturing process, small scratches or uneven coloring may occur on the leather, which Japex does not consider defects. Please purchase with the understanding of the above.
