With the FUGA, our goal was to balance the environment required for riding with the enhancement of the shoe's fundamental functions.
To create an ideal riding environment, the upper, which forms the instep of the boot, is fashioned from a single piece of leather, and the opening has been offset. Forming the boot from a single piece of leather involves significant waste because of the luxurious amount of material required, which is reflected in the cost. However, the form, with its minimal seams, is not only beautiful to look at but also fits the foot comfortably due to its inherent flexibility. Furthermore, the smooth surface with minimal irregularities allows for seamless contact with the motorcycle.
The offset opening further concretizes this concept. We have shifted the position of the shoelaces—which can interfere with riding—to the side, and adopted a snap-button method for securing the laces. This results in a clean, smart look that accentuates the refined design.

About the leather texture

The FUGA is a product that is carefully handcrafted by skilled artisans, one pair at a time. Consequently, minor scratches or unevenness in leather color may occur during the production process; these are characteristics of the product and do not constitute defects.
Additionally, there are individual differences in dyeing and shading for each boot. Please understand the characteristics of the leather and the manufacturing method, and enjoy your "one-of-a-kind" boots.

About the leather tag

These boots include a leather tag made from the same full-grain leather used for the upper.
Since it is crafted with the same thickness and dyeing process as the boot itself, you can verify the quality and substantial feel of the material firsthand. The cross-section reveals the generous use of thick leather.
The tag is embossed with the GAERNE logo and "MADE IN ITALY." It quietly tells the story of a reliable heritage and the dedication of its makers. It is a small token that allows you to see, touch, and even enjoy the aging process of the high-quality leather used in your boots.

Notice

The leather tag included with this product is the specification as of December 2025 onwards. It is not included with models prior to this date.

Please note that there are mixed specifications regarding whether the tag is threaded directly onto the shoelaces or fixed with a metal fitting.
As it may come off during wear, we recommend removing and storing the tag while using the boots.

Gaerne products are designed for riding, so the sizing differs from standard shoes. Furthermore, each model has a different fit due to variations in the last, sole shape, and sole manufacturing method. We have provided a size chart based on the data for each model's sole and last to assist you in choosing your size.

This model features a pre-installed genuine leather insole, so you can use it as is without the included supplementary insole.
Please use the included insole for fine-tuning the size once the leather of the boots has broken in.

Product Details

Upper Material

ANFIBIO leather is the highest-grade full-grain leather, reserved only for high-end Gaerne boot models; it is remarkably durable yet soft once broken in. Furthermore, it is resistant to dirt and possesses a degree of natural water resistance (though it is not fully waterproof). Dyed ANFIBIO leather takes on color unevenly, creating a unique texture. The fact that the color changes over time is another significant characteristic of this leather.

Sole Construction

A defining feature of this shoe is the Norwegian construction, known as "Norvegiese." This method of stitching the upper, the midsole, and the outsole together with a unique lock stitch offers various advantages. These include a thick sole that resists deformation, extremely high rigidity, robust durability, and the ability to resole the shoe. As seen in high-end men's footwear, it has been the gold standard for creating sturdy, beautiful shoes since ancient times. However, the complex process is costly. Consequently, many shoes that look like Norwegian or Goodyear welted footwear are not. This shoe was produced with the intent to ignore such costs and deliver a genuine product. Gaerne refers to shoes like the No.145 and FUGA as "integral shoes"—that is, "shoes that completely wrap the foot."

HAND MADE IN ITALY

This product is handmade by artisans one by one at the Gaerne factory in the Veneto region of Italy. From the FUGA, you should be able to feel the burning pride and sensitivity of Gaerne’s skilled craftsmen, nurtured by the history and culture of Italian manufacturing. Moreover, in the stitches that these craftsmen have carefully and reliably sewn, one by one, you will perceive their obsession with and love for this shoe.
