Smooth upper made of carefully selected full-grain leather, and an obliquely offset opening. These riding boots boast a luxurious playfulness that only a craftsman can achieve.

At FUGA, our goal was to balance the necessary features for riding with the intrinsic functionality of the shoe itself.
To enhance the riding experience, we crafted the upper, which forms the instep of the shoe, from a single piece of leather, and also offset the opening. Forming the upper from a single piece of leather is a luxurious use of material that results in a lot of waste, which is reflected in the cost. However, a form with fewer seams offers both aesthetic beauty and a comfortable fit due to its flexibility. Furthermore, its smooth surface allows for seamless contact with the motorcycle.
The offset opening further concretizes this concept. The shoelace position, which can interfere with riding, is shifted outwards, and the shoelaces are secured with a snap button. This creates a clean and smart appearance, enhancing the refined design.

Meaning of "Rough"

The "ROUGH" in Rough Brown means rugged. The concept behind this boot color is that it looks cool when worn hard, getting scratched and developing uneven leather tones!
You will likely notice minor scratches and scuff marks on the product right out of the box. When the leather is dry, its color will lighten, and variations in tone will be more prominent. Applying a waterproof polish will darken the leather color and make color changes due to friction less noticeable. Repeating this process many times will further enhance the unique character.
We want you to enjoy your adventures to the fullest without worrying about scratches or dirt.

About the Leather Tag

This boot comes with a leather tag made from the same full-grain leather as the upper.
Since it is crafted with the same thickness and dye as the shoe, you can feel the quality and substantiality of the material firsthand. The cross-section reveals the generous use of thick leather.
The tag is embossed with the GAERNE logo and "MADE IN ITALY." It quietly tells the story of its reliable origins and the craftsman's dedication. This small tag is a testament that allows you to see and feel the high-quality leather used in the boots, and even enjoy the changes it undergoes with age.

Notice

The leather tag included with this product will be available for models produced from December 2025 onwards. It is not included with earlier models.

Please also note that there is a mix of specifications: some where the shoelace is directly threaded through, and others where it is secured with a metal fitting. We appreciate your understanding.
As it may come off during wear, we recommend removing and storing it when using your boots.

Gaerne products are designed for riding, so their sizing differs from general shoes. Additionally, each model has different lasts, sole shapes, and sole construction methods, resulting in variations in sizing. We have prepared a size chart based on the sole and last data of each model, so please use it to help you choose your size.

This model comes with a genuine leather insole already attached, so you can use it as is without the included insole.

Upper Material

ANFIBIO leather is a premium full-grain leather reserved for Gaerne's high-end models. It is extremely durable yet softens beautifully with wear. Furthermore, it is highly resistant to dirt and possesses a certain degree of water resistance (though not completely waterproof). Dyed ANFIBIO leather takes on an uneven coloration, creating a unique texture. A significant characteristic of this leather is its tendency to change color over time.

Sole Construction

What characterizes this shoe is the Norwegian construction method, commonly known as "Norvegese." This method offers various benefits by sewing the upper, insole, and outsole together with a distinctive lockstitch. For example, the sole is thick and resists losing its shape, it has very high rigidity, it is robust and long-lasting, and the sole can be replaced. As it is a classic method for high-end men's shoes, it has been the optimal way to create robust and beautifully finished shoes since ancient times. However, its disadvantage is the high cost due to the complex processes involved. For this reason, many shoes may appear to have Norwegian or Goodyear construction but are actually different. This shoe is produced with the desire to deliver authenticity, disregarding such costs. Gaerne refers to shoes like the No.145 and FUGA as "integral shoes," meaning "shoes that completely envelop the foot."

This is a handcrafted product, meticulously made by artisans in the Gaerne factory located in the Veneto region of Italy. From FUGA, you can feel the passionate pride and sensibility of Gaerne's skilled craftsmen, cultivated through Italy's history and culture of manufacturing. You will also sense their dedication and love for these shoes in each stitch, carefully and precisely sewn by these craftsmen.

Gaerne boots are handmade products, with each pair meticulously crafted by artisans. Small scratches or variations in leather color may occur during the manufacturing process, but JAPEX does not consider these to be defects. Please acknowledge the above before purchasing.
