No.145 is a long-selling boot born from a collaboration between Gaerne and Japex, worn by riders for over 30 years.

The prototype was a work boot from the time Gaerne was founded. Keeping its perfected form almost unchanged, it was reborn as a motorcycle boot with the simple addition of a shift guard on the left foot. The name "145" carries on the project number of the original boot.

The upper is crafted from approximately 3mm-thick full-grain leather, with leather lining inside. It is constructed using Gaerne's signature Norwegian welt process. The manufacturing method, the leather, and the philosophy behind its creation all remain true to the original. Owning a pair of No.145s means possessing the history and craftsmanship Gaerne has cultivated since its days making mountaineering boots.

And the true charm of the No.145 only begins to reveal itself once you start wearing them.

The leather molds to your feet, acquiring scuffs and creases, and deepening in color and luster. A boot crafted in a uniform shape transforms into a one-of-a-kind pair, layered with the roads you've traveled and the time you've spent. Seeing that change makes you want to wear them more. It makes you want to ride your bike more.

Of course, these are not "easy" boots.

The thick leather requires maintenance, the lace-up design takes effort to put on and take off, and they have a substantial weight. Yet, because you polish them, lace them up, and wear them time and again to bridge the distance, even their stubbornness becomes something you grow to love.

No.145 is not a boot that is "complete" the day you buy it.

It becomes your own boot with every mile of your journey.

About the leather tag

These boots come with a leather tag made from the same full-grain leather as the upper.
Since it is fashioned from the same thickness and dyed in the same way as the boots, you can feel the quality and substantial texture of the material firsthand. The cross-section reveals the generous use of thick leather.
The tag is embossed with the GAERNE logo and MADE IN ITALY, quietly testifying to its solid background and the creator's philosophy. It is a small token that allows you to see, touch, and enjoy the aging process of the high-quality leather used in your boots.

The leather tag included with this product is a specification effective from December 2025 onwards. It is not included with earlier models.

Please note that some tags are attached directly to the shoelaces, while others are fixed with hardware. Thank you for your understanding.
Since they may come off during wear, we recommend removing the tag and keeping it safe when using the boots.

Gaerne products are designed for riding, so the fit differs from regular shoes. Additionally, the last, sole shape, and sole construction vary by model, resulting in differences in how each one fits. We have prepared a size chart based on the data for the soles and lasts of each model to assist you in choosing the right size.

Since this model comes with a leather insole pre-installed, it can be worn as is without the included supplementary insoles.
Please use the included insoles for minor size adjustments once the leather of the boots has broken in.

Product Details

Upper Material

ANFIBIO leather is the highest-grade full-grain leather, permitted for use only on Gaerne's high-end models; it is remarkably durable yet soft once broken in. Furthermore, it is resistant to dirt and possesses a degree of natural water resistance (though it is not completely waterproof). Dyed ANFIBIO leather takes on color unevenly, creating a unique texture. The way the color changes over time is a major characteristic of this leather.

Sole Construction

What defines this shoe is the Norwegian welt construction, known as "Norvegiese." This method of stitching the upper, midsole, and outsole together with a unique lock stitch provides various advantages. These include thick soles that resist losing their shape, exceptional rigidity, sturdy construction for longevity, and the ability to resole the boots. As a staple of high-end dress shoes, this has been the ideal method since ancient times for creating sturdy and beautifully finished footwear. However, because it involves a complex process, the drawback is the high cost. For this reason, many shoes that look like Norwegian or Goodyear welts are not actually constructed that way. These shoes are made regardless of such costs, out of a desire to deliver the real thing. Gaerne refers to shoes like the No.145 and FUGA as "integral shoes"—boots that "completely envelop the foot."

HAND MADE IN ITALY

This is a handcrafted product, made one by one by artisans at the Gaerne factory in the Veneto region of Italy.
From the No.145, you should be able to feel the history and culture of Italian manufacturing, as well as the passionate pride and sensibility of Gaerne's skilled craftsmen. And in the stitches that the craftsman has meticulously and carefully sewn, one by one, you will perceive their obsession and love for these shoes.

Gaerne boots are handcrafted products made one by one by artisans. Small scratches or color irregularities in the leather may occur during the manufacturing process, but Japex does not consider these to be defects. Please understand this before making your purchase.
