With each wear, these shoes become a part of the owner's body and grow with various memories. Although they have a traditional appearance, they are the culmination of GAERNE's craftsmanship. Packed with mountaineering know-how, these shoes, despite their simple shape, are equipped with a three-layer Norwegian-made sole, fiber cups in the toe and heel, and inner foam that gently wraps around the foot.

The meaning of Rahu
The "ROUGH" in Rough Brown means rough. This boot color was created with the concept that it looks cool when worn hard, with scratches and uneven leather coloring.
When you receive your item, you will notice some small scratches and scuff marks. As the product dries, the color of the leather will lighten and the shading will become more clearly visible. Applying waterproof polish will deepen the color of the leather and make the color changes caused by friction less noticeable. Repeating this process several times will make the leather's character more pronounced.

Gaerne products are designed for riding, so the sizing is different from regular shoes. Each model also has a different last, sole shape, and sole manufacturing method, so the sizing varies. We have prepared a size chart based on the sole and last data for each model, so please use it to help you choose your size.
Size 145 (equivalent to regular sneaker size)

This model comes with a genuine leather insole already attached, so you can use it as is without the included insole.
Please use the included insoles to fine-tune the size once the leather of the boots has become more comfortable.

Upper Material
ANFIBIO leather is the finest full-grain leather, exclusively used in Gaerne's high-end boots. It's extremely durable yet soft once broken in. It's also stain-resistant, and the material itself has some water resistance (though it's not completely waterproof). Dyed ANFIBIO leather is dyed unevenly, creating a unique texture. Another distinctive feature of this leather is that its color changes over time.
Sole manufacturing method
These shoes are characterized by the Norwegian construction method, commonly known as Norvegiese. This method, which sews the upper, insole, and outsole together with a unique lock stitch, offers numerous advantages. These include a thick sole that retains its shape, exceptional rigidity, a durable finish that lasts a long time, and the ability to replace the sole. As a standard for high-end men's shoes, this method has long been the ideal way to create sturdy, beautifully finished shoes. However, the downside is the cost involved, which is a complex process. As a result, many shoes look like Norwegian or Goodyear shoes, but are actually quite different. These shoes are crafted without regard for cost, with a desire to deliver authenticity. Gaerne calls shoes like the No. 145 and FUGA integral shoes, meaning they completely encase the foot.

Each product is handmade by artisans at the Gaerne factory in the Veneto region of Italy.
