The "ROUGH" in Rough Brown means rugged. It's a boot color created with the concept that wearing them hard, getting scratches, and having uneven leather color is cool! You'll likely notice minor scratches and scuff marks from the start when they arrive. When the product is dry, the leather color brightens, and the shades become more pronounced. Applying a waterproof polish, etc., will darken the leather color and make color changes due to friction less noticeable. Repeating this process many times will bring out even more character. We want you to enjoy your adventures to the fullest without worrying about scratches or dirt.
About the leather tag
These boots come with a leather tag made from the same full-grain leather as the upper. Since it is made with the same thickness and dye as the shoes, you can feel the quality and substantiality of the material directly. From the cross-section, you can see that thick leather is used without reservation. The tag is embossed with the GAERNE logo and MADE IN ITALY. It quietly tells the story of the solid background and the attitude of the craftsman. It's a small, tangible tag that allows you to see and feel how high-quality leather is used in the boots, and even enjoy the changes over time.

ANFIBIO leather is the highest-grade full-grain leather, permitted for use only in Gaerne's high-end boot models. It is extremely durable yet softens beautifully once broken in. Furthermore, it is highly resistant to dirt and possesses a certain degree of water resistance (though not completely waterproof). Dyed ANFIBIO leather takes on an uneven coloration, creating a unique texture. A significant characteristic of this leather is also how its color changes over time.
Sole Construction Method
What characterizes this shoe is the Norwegian construction method, commonly known as "Norvegese." This method offers various advantages by sewing the upper, insole, and outsole together with a distinctive lockstitch. For example, it results in a thick sole that is resistant to deformation, possesses extremely high rigidity, is durably finished for long-lasting wear, and allows for resoling. As is common with high-end men's shoes, it is the optimal method for constructing durable and beautifully finished footwear. However, a drawback is the cost due to the complex processes involved. Consequently, many shoes may appear Norwegian or Goodyear-welted but are actually different. This shoe, however, is produced with the desire to deliver authenticity, disregarding such costs. Gaerne refers to shoes like the No.145 and FUGA as integral shoes, meaning "shoes that completely envelop the foot."
