These boots come with a leather tag made from the same full-grain leather as the upper. Since it is crafted with the same thickness and dye as the shoes, you can feel and verify the quality and substantiality of the material firsthand. From the cross-section, you can see that thick leather is used generously. The tag is embossed with the GAERNE logo and "MADE IN ITALY." It quietly tells the story of the reliable background and the manufacturer's attitude. It is a small testament that allows you to see and feel how high-quality leather the boots use, and even enjoy the changes over time.

ANFIBIO leather is a top-grade full-grain leather permitted only for Gaerne's high-end boots. It is exceptionally durable yet becomes soft as it breaks in. Furthermore, it is resistant to dirt and possesses a certain degree of water resistance (though not completely waterproof). The dyed ANFIBIO leather has an uneven finish, creating a unique texture. A significant characteristic of this leather is its color change over time.
Sole Manufacturing Method
What distinguishes these shoes is the Norwegian welt construction, commonly known as "Norvegiese." This method of stitching the shoe's upper, insole, and outsole together with a unique lockstitch offers various advantages. For instance, the sole is thick and resistant to deformation, possesses extremely high rigidity, is durably finished for long-lasting wear, and the sole can be replaced. As it is a standard for high-end men's dress shoes, it has been the optimal method for making shoes sturdy and beautifully finished since ancient times. However, its disadvantage is the high cost due to the complex process involved. For this reason, many shoes may appear to use Norwegian or Goodyear welting but are actually made differently. These shoes are produced with the desire to deliver authenticity, disregarding such costs. Gaerne refers to shoes like the No.145 and FUGA as integral shoes, meaning "shoes that completely envelop the foot."
